Singing in Care Homes
Hi, I'm Ruth Lisgo, a full-time vocalist and lifelong lover of music. From singing at home as a child to performing in church and later studying performing arts at school, music has always been at the heart of who I am. These days, you'll often find me busking on the streets across the UK, where I get to connect with people from all walks of life through the universal language of song.
More recently, I've been drawn to singing in care homes - a place where music reveals its most powerful magic. I've seen how a single familiar melody can unlock memories, stir emotions, and transport us back in time. Even when words are hard to find, music has a way of reaching deep within and bringing a smile, a tear, or a moment of connection.
I believe music is a bridge to joy, to healing, to memories we thought were lost. My aim is to invite residents to feel whatever comes - to laugh, to remember, to simply be present in the moment. It's an honour to share these musical journeys, and I hope bring heart, warmth, and a personal touch to every performance and one of my mottos in life "if you feel like dancing - dance".
